Cara and the Mulberry Owls

Cara Delvingine's large eyes and bird-like features make her a perfect member of the Mulberry parliament. Cara is featured extensively in September's 902 page Fall Fashion Vogue but these ads are my favorites

Have a ball

New fall flats from Dior. The round bauble is at once quirky and expected enough to be wearable.

In a gilded cage

This season's shoes by Dolce & Gabbana might actually prove that I have, in fact, died and gone to heaven.  Just when I think I can not possibly love fashion any more and nothing can possibly be new under the sun, some creative genius says: Poof! Birdcage shoes.  I can just imagine a tiny carnelian colored canary singing inside.... Très jolie, D&G.

Mindbendingly fancy

This image, from Paris Fashion Week 2013, brings so many disjointed references to mind it simply must be genius.  I find this image entertaining, theatrical and provocative.

The first thing that pops into my consciousness is the scene from ballet "The Nutcracker" when  Mother Ginger enters the court of the Sugar Plum Fairy and opens her skirt to free eight little gingerbread children.  BUT....and this is key.... Almost simultaneously I also think of the scene in A Christmas Carol, by Dickens, when the Ghost of Christmas Future opens his robe to reveal the two children: Ignorance and Want. Very juxtaposed.....

Rogers and Hammerstein's songs, and images from the films created in the 50's and 60's specifically, also begin to flash through my mind.... Flower Drum Song, The King and I, and South Pacific.....

It's also intriguing that the woman seems to typify more of my idea of an East Asian beauty while the children, with their neon tulle dresses and center-parted black hair, make me think of both India and Mexico.... at once....  The woman also is dressed similarly to a western bride and with three children tumbling forth from under her skirt there is also a sense of female power, sexuality, joy and motherhood....

Or it is just a lovely dress and runway presentation.... At any rate, very, very, very interesting work....

By far the greatest Gatsby

1920s chic gets a slick, modern makeover at the Great Gatsby kick off event in Tokyo. I love the unexpected combination of flapper style with prints and textures reminiscent of 1980s glam rock bands. Top that off with sparkling retro head jewels = L. O. V. E.

Beanies, Baby

My fav runway model, Cara Delevingne, has sparked a new trend: Beanie hats.... they aren't just for slackers and hippies anymore.  This season keep your head warm and your style lazily stylish with these couture alternatives.  Blogging from the airport btw, folks.... because I love you.

Emerald City

2013's Pantone color of the year is, of course, Emerald.  Here are some of my favorite demonstrations of this hue.  Top to bottom: YSL, Kenzo, Valentino, Burberry Porsum, Gucci, Michael Kors, Vera Wang, Gucci, Furla, YSL.

Rock statement shorts.

I like the metallics because they go with everything.  Summer days with a graphic t,  Spring nights with tights and a silk tank. Just rock them.  All. The. Time. I picked the most flattering cuts for you and the prettiest fabrics. Legs are sexier when separated..... Like rather than wearing a skirt ;-)  Idk WHAT you thought I meant.... Top to bottom: IRO, Versus, DVF, Helmut Lang-- all on my new fav website: http://www.ssense.com.  Thank me later for that little link :-) :-) :-)
