Tickled Pastel

With a color palette reminiscent of gourmet French macarons, Burberry Porsum's 2014 spring line is sweet decadence.  Pour elle: fluffy bags, heavily embroidered, sheer skirts, and candy-colored coats, contrasted elegantly with simple summer sandals.  Vivid colored sunglasses are paired perfectly, and unexpectedly, with the subdued colors of the preppy men's ensembles. The collection is a clear departure from last year's jewel-toned leather trenches and neon, transparent bags.  Instead, Burberry opted for more painterly, delicate details-- down to the pink petals that rained over the runway at NYFW.  For me, Porsum is the yummiest Spring has to offer -- Bon Appétit!

Fashion Week 2014 Top Ten

I'll be honest with you, 2014 is not the best fashion year ever, but these 10 looks (Mostly Burberry and Miu Miu) are so gorgeous and spot on my style, that they actually may be some of my all-time favorites.  While many designers are trying to outfit us in boxy, unflattering tops and leg-shortening cropped trousers, these ensembles are both figure-flattering and feminine.  So what will I rock in 2014?  I'm thinking pastels, a bit of disco, thick, detailed lace and some shiny silk.

I want every flavor of this sorbet-toned spectrum of dresses. The white sparkly jumpsuit is effing FANTASTIC as well. LOVE CHANEL!!! 

In a gilded cage

This season's shoes by Dolce & Gabbana might actually prove that I have, in fact, died and gone to heaven.  Just when I think I can not possibly love fashion any more and nothing can possibly be new under the sun, some creative genius says: Poof! Birdcage shoes.  I can just imagine a tiny carnelian colored canary singing inside.... Très jolie, D&G.

Chic with a splash of lacy

These shoes by Valentino make every step a splash of feminine lace. I would wear them with a very structured, fitted shift dress, preferably of the thickest silk: black, nude or vivid red = vamp fairy.

Rock statement shorts.

I like the metallics because they go with everything.  Summer days with a graphic t,  Spring nights with tights and a silk tank. Just rock them.  All. The. Time. I picked the most flattering cuts for you and the prettiest fabrics. Legs are sexier when separated..... Like rather than wearing a skirt ;-)  Idk WHAT you thought I meant.... Printed suits? ....Yes.

While out shopping for my new spring wardrobe I found myself paused in front of an all-over printed blazer and bottom set, and I thought.... should I?  My inclination for my actual (not fantasy wish-list) wardrobe is to stay simple, classic and make sure it fits perfectly.  So, those things considered, the answer is: Yes. The same rules apply to this new trend, which I believe is here to stay, but we must choose carefully.  

The trick is to go with a print that works for you and your personality.  We don't want you looking like a trend victim....Your floral suit should be just that.  If you generally wear preppy clothes, go with a lighter color, airier floral.  If you are more of a vamp, find one which is dark and sultry, with some shine in the fabric.  

The good news is, there are so many options at every price point, you are bound to find the one which "suits" you (sorry, couldn't resist).  Final thought: As spring and summer begin, and Fridays and Mondays become unofficially, more optional, these suits will be my best friend.  Worn together to work, all I need is an overnight bag, white t-shirt, pair of solid shorts, killer sling-back mules, bikini et voilà!
