In a gilded cage

This season's shoes by Dolce & Gabbana might actually prove that I have, in fact, died and gone to heaven.  Just when I think I can not possibly love fashion any more and nothing can possibly be new under the sun, some creative genius says: Poof! Birdcage shoes.  I can just imagine a tiny carnelian colored canary singing inside.... Très jolie, D&G.

Moody Blues

I'm so happy I got my coat from MUUSE in time for this evening's forecast. A silk, one-shoulder dress from Pinkyotto and cobalt colored Brahmin bag complete my misty, monochrome ensemble. It is going to be a rainy night for a dinner party in the Back Bay..... but at least I can bring some sunshine with me in these moody blues.... also Moscato de Asti

Rock statement shorts.

I like the metallics because they go with everything.  Summer days with a graphic t,  Spring nights with tights and a silk tank. Just rock them.  All. The. Time. I picked the most flattering cuts for you and the prettiest fabrics. Legs are sexier when separated..... Like rather than wearing a skirt ;-)  Idk WHAT you thought I meant.... Top to bottom: IRO, Versus, DVF, Helmut Lang-- all on my new fav website: http://www.ssense.com.  Thank me later for that little link :-) :-) :-)

Retro, stripes and macrame

Dolce and Gabbana for summer, s'il vous plait!  I love all the fun quirkiness about these outfits.  They seem to have traveled here from a time when bathing suits were more modest and clothes were more well-made.... Pompoms, macrame, stripes....  This line took the best parts of beachwear from the last century, added some updated hemlines and '13 worthy shoes.... and I guess what I'm saying is:               I WANT! I WANT! I WANT!

Printed suits? ....Yes.

While out shopping for my new spring wardrobe I found myself paused in front of an all-over printed blazer and bottom set, and I thought.... should I?  My inclination for my actual (not fantasy wish-list) wardrobe is to stay simple, classic and make sure it fits perfectly.  So, those things considered, the answer is: Yes. The same rules apply to this new trend, which I believe is here to stay, but we must choose carefully.

The trick is to go with a print that works for you and your personality.  We don't want you looking like a trend victim....Your floral suit should be just that.  If you generally wear preppy clothes, go with a lighter color, airier floral.  If you are more of a vamp, find one which is dark and sultry, with some shine in the fabric.

The good news is, there are so many options at every price point, you are bound to find the one which "suits" you (sorry, couldn't resist).  Final thought: As spring and summer begin, and Fridays and Mondays become unofficially, more optional, these suits will be my best friend.  Worn together to work, all I need is an overnight bag, white t-shirt, pair of solid shorts, killer sling-back mules, bikini et voilà! Weekend bound!  Suits, in order, by: Celine, Tory Burch, Warehouse, Roberto Cavalli, Christian Louboutin, and Marc Jacobs.

Paper tigress

There is something in leaving one's comfort zone which gives freedom and brings new possibilities.  These dresses, all made entirely of paper, exemplify how a new medium can inspire new leaps in design.  While dresses of paper are impractical, in the rain for example, they can teach nuances we may have never have considered had we not taken time to play with them.

Spring Fever

Yesterday Spring officially sprung. While some of us are spring cleaning, some of us are coveting the trends and outfits we can wear with warmer weather. I know I'm into it after a cold winter! Anyway, we've got a really great mix this week. From learning what exactly "Haute Couture" means, to various explorations of all the Spring Trends for this year, some really great remixes how to take it all in with your camera phone. I'd say it's a great way to kick off the season, and hopefully you're as excited as I am! Now... let's get started!

Pink hearts gray

I am so smitten with these ballerina-like dresses/tops by Bora Aksu.  Western chicks can rock them with bare legs and cognac colored leather shoes, while my Eastern ladies can style them, as above, with black harem pants for modesty. Either way, pink and gray are a lovely compliment to the romantic lace and ribbon details. I want them all, unlike some of the trends I have seen recently coming from Europe. I could easily wear any one of them, and would, MOST gladly. Le sigh.

Bindis and Neon... Oh hell yea... Also Chanel shoes with coral for heels

I found this pic on Pinterest and I. Love. This. Look.  Bindis + Neon + Tribal print + Native looking braided hair + Bangles = Could it BE any more postmoderroyal?  I think not.  Someone PLEASE tell me where I can find this fab outfit... and....sorry.... just one critique: What's up with the footwear?  This season is all about shoes as detailed as the clothes themselves.... Maybe the below, by Chanel?
