Tickled Pastel

With a color palette reminiscent of gourmet French macarons, Burberry Porsum's 2014 spring line is sweet decadence.  Pour elle: fluffy bags, heavily embroidered, sheer skirts, and candy-colored coats, contrasted elegantly with simple summer sandals.  Vivid colored sunglasses are paired perfectly, and unexpectedly, with the subdued colors of the preppy men's ensembles. The collection is a clear departure from last year's jewel-toned leather trenches and neon, transparent bags.  Instead, Burberry opted for more painterly, delicate details-- down to the pink petals that rained over the runway at NYFW.  For me, Porsum is the yummiest Spring has to offer -- Bon Appétit!

Fashion Week 2014 Top Ten

I'll be honest with you, 2014 is not the best fashion year ever, but these 10 looks (Mostly Burberry and Miu Miu) are so gorgeous and spot on my style, that they actually may be some of my all-time favorites.  While many designers are trying to outfit us in boxy, unflattering tops and leg-shortening cropped trousers, these ensembles are both figure-flattering and feminine.  So what will I rock in 2014?  I'm thinking pastels, a bit of disco, thick, detailed lace and some shiny silk.

Gareth Pugh? Oh MY, yes.

Practical? No. Figure flattering? Mmmm, only occasionally...... Perfectly wonderful? Uh-huh, yup. I have fallen deeply, madly, 100% in love with Gareth Pugh. He is certainly my pick for fav designer  of 2013, though I hope I don't ever have to say his last name until I hear it out loud first *blushes*.

Postmodern rainbow brite

A colorful number from New York Fashion Week 2013. Very interesting detail and breathtaking polychromasia.... She slightly reminds me of Rainbow Brite.... which is a good thing :-) :-) :-)

Trending: Cartoon graphics

Not sure who designed this one but it is pretty cool. The style and cut of the piece is definitely something I would wear.

Another by Manoush that  I might wear.  I would certainly make people smile and, in the end, that's what I look for in my clothes.

The graphic which comprises this bag by Jimmy Choo is super cute.  It's just a tiny bit reminiscent of carrying a teddy bear around with me.... but with the right out fit.... for the right event I could see it working.

Buck wild dress by Di$count. This is a piece of art for sure.... again...there is a time and a place for anything but it might just end up hanging in my closet....unless I put it under glass and hung it on my wall.....

Two styles here from Gerlan Jeans Minnie Mouse inspired line.  Some of the pieces are really fun but might make you look crazy (such as a white hoodie with pink mouse ears and a yellow dress with a bow larger than a golden retriever).  The white shorts above however = LOVE.

So, now that Fashion month in almost over in Europe, it is clear we cannot deny one trend which keeps  surfacing on fashionable thoroughfares and runways alike: Cartoons.  First let me say.... I love to WATCH cartoons but WEAR them? Idk.  I just dk.... Buuuuut I am a fashionista.... for better or worse and, thusly, I must at least try to appreciate what those in the design world are trying to put out there.  That being said, I have put this list together of those cartoon inspired pieces I find most wearable and palatable.  See what you think.  

Full spectrum

Burberry's 2013 spring debut, at fashion week in Paris, is so graphic and inspiring.  While many designers used illustration to influence their style this season, Burberry offers us the Pantone pallet itself: A trench for every day and every mood.  The coolest image, to me, is the topmost.  I think the combination of clear neon bags and shoes with more the subdued metallics is a good reference on how to mix colors the modern way.
