Holy Katrantzou!

Wild florals and outlandish silhouettes = 2014 Mary Katranzou.  The topmost outfit, available here, is lovely, and actually wearable, where as the rest of the dresses are more.... ummm.... theoretical, for me.  As in.... they represent the concept of a really cool dresses that, in a world free from all practical realities, someone might imagine possibly someday wearing....  Lastly, I must say, I am mad for the printed booties. With jeans and a floaty peasant top they could be really fun for summer.  I like the rugged Timberland-like soles... VERY useful for walking the Boston cobblestones :-)

Eventing in Lace Von Furstenberg

Summer is officially upon us here in Boston, and so, events abound.  Tonight, I'm hitting up a party on Newbury before I head off to a fashion show on The Hill.... thusly, this morning consists of outfit planning and preparation.  I decided to rock my black and white Diane Von Furstenberg dress. I love it because it looks like a cocktail dress, fits like it was made for me, and feels like a t-shirt (the fabric beneath the lace overlay is the softest cotton). Always the accessory minimalist, especially for Thursday night lower-key shindigs, I'm keeping it very simple: French stilettos, diamond studs, and my iPhone is wearing it's  Gucci cover.  For now though, I must be off.... gym, downtown for lunch, nails, hair....  If anyone is wearing anything lovely tonight I shall Instagram as needed. Ciao, Royals!

Retro, stripes and macrame

Dolce and Gabbana for summer, s'il vous plait!  I love all the fun quirkiness about these outfits.  They seem to have traveled here from a time when bathing suits were more modest and clothes were more well-made.... Pompoms, macrame, stripes....  This line took the best parts of beachwear from the last century, added some updated hemlines and '13 worthy shoes.... and I guess what I'm saying is:               I WANT! I WANT! I WANT!

Postmodern rainbow brite

A colorful number from New York Fashion Week 2013. Very interesting detail and breathtaking polychromasia.... She slightly reminds me of Rainbow Brite.... which is a good thing :-) :-) :-)

Paper tigress

There is something in leaving one's comfort zone which gives freedom and brings new possibilities.  These dresses, all made entirely of paper, exemplify how a new medium can inspire new leaps in design.  While dresses of paper are impractical, in the rain for example, they can teach nuances we may have never have considered had we not taken time to play with them.

Spring Fever

Yesterday Spring officially sprung. While some of us are spring cleaning, some of us are coveting the trends and outfits we can wear with warmer weather. I know I'm into it after a cold winter! Anyway, we've got a really great mix this week. From learning what exactly "Haute Couture" means, to various explorations of all the Spring Trends for this year, some really great remixes how to take it all in with your camera phone. I'd say it's a great way to kick off the season, and hopefully you're as excited as I am! Now... let's get started!

Pink hearts gray

I am so smitten with these ballerina-like dresses/tops by Bora Aksu.  Western chicks can rock them with bare legs and cognac colored leather shoes, while my Eastern ladies can style them, as above, with black harem pants for modesty. Either way, pink and gray are a lovely compliment to the romantic lace and ribbon details. I want them all, unlike some of the trends I have seen recently coming from Europe. I could easily wear any one of them, and would, MOST gladly. Le sigh.

Deflect evil!

My mom's side of the family always kept bowls full of these talismans around their houses to fight off the evil eye. I find these updated styles to be a way to bring my old world traditions to my new world of fashion addiction.
